The Writer’s tangible goals and outputs:
· Write and edit content in all formats so that it is clear, concise, and in accordance with the company's internal brand and style standards.
· Write compensation and benefits-related content and have a strong knowledge of these subject matter areas. This writer will work closely with subject matter experts to identify communications needs and write content focused on identified project goals.
· Work with the content team manager, writers, and editors to continuously identify and deliver on best practices for writing in general and in format-specific strategies.
Day to day, the Writer will:
· Work with the content manager and editor and with the production and design teams to manage project deliverables within the established workflow, using proprietary editorial tools and processes.
· Partner with the intranet team, including information architects, to build on the strategy for organizing intranet content and writing it within the established style for online content.
· Advise and at times partner with other writers on the content team to develop content.
· Review all content for grammar, style, adherence to internal corporate standards, clarity, consistency, and coherency.
The successful Writer candidate will have:
· Eight to 10 years of experience writing for an internal corporate communications team, with specific benefits- and HR-related writing experience, for a large organization.
· Knowledge of financial services or a related industry is a plus.
· Experience with and knowledge of the health care benefits and wellness subject matter area. The writer should be able to work with the clients and subject matter experts on a day-to-day basis and produce content that is both technically accurate and easy for those who are not subject matter experts to understand.
· Experience writing for a corporate intranet for a large organization (preferably within the financial services industry).
· Knowledge of information architecture and online content development principles.
· Experience with content management systems (knowledge of HTML is a plus).
· Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word (including experience with tracked changes), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional editing tools.
· Knowledge of writing and editing industry practices, including knowledge of professional style guides (Chicago Manual of Style, AP, etc.) and various online tools and resources.
· Ability to edit and mark changes online.
· Outstanding organizational skills with proven experience working on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
