NEW POSITION: Sr. Product Manager, SF East Bay

We are assisting our client, a Fortune 100 company in SF East Bay, to hire a Senior Product Manager for their Consumer Brands Department. This is an exciting time to join this growing team which is a key driver of a large transformation of how we shop and how we improve our lifestyle.

This Sr. Product Manager is to provide leadership in high volumes of continuous new product and line extension development and renovation for a designated group of categories.

You will lead the team in projects and processes of delivering the new item development/renovation calendar, developing ideas/opportunities/pipeline and then managing projects through to market. This includes outlining the strategic framework, developing and validating ideas, directing food and/or non-food development, collaborating with R&D and suppliers, managing budgets and financial forecasts, and gaining alignment with Consumer Demand.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead and develop the team to engage cross functional teams on strategic vision for new products of existing brands, and effectively lead them to commercialize new products or product improvements with excellence including problem solving challenges.
• Deliver go-to-market innovation/new item development/renovation including development of a comprehensive preliminary launch plan that justifies the project and any major investments.
• Responsible for development plans, performance management and forecasting for team to deliver against plan.
• Continually enhance the “front end” process and conduct effective research to uncover insights to drive development of concepts, rapid protocepting and developing product elements. Make recommendations to improve projects, products, programs and to streamline functions.
• Ensure on-time delivery of new item, line extension and renovation projects against company Wave calendars.
• Analyze category, brand and competitive trends and dynamics leading to key conclusions, implications and recommended action plans.
• Lead and develop other Product Managers, Assistant Managers and Associates to a high performance team.
• Travel - 25%

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing; MBA preferred.
• 6 to 8 years of product management experience preferable in a retail or CPG environment.
• 3 or more years experience and demonstrated abilities in managing teams, developing others and managing high volume of projects successfully.
• Experience in applying new product stage gate processes (opportunity, concept, timeline, development, commercialization, retail launch) and product improvement processes against high quality standards.
• Expert project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
• Expert in managing budgets and financial metrics.
• Ability to motivate, lead, and influence cross functional teams and stakeholders across the organization to execute projects/programs.
• Demonstrated leadership and expertise in marketing, preferably in a consumer packaged goods or retail company.
• Combine creative problem solving, consumer insight understanding and an aptitude for strategic thinking in a fluid environment.
• Strong ability to analyze multiple and often disconnected data sources (target consumer trends and insights) and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Experience in developing direct reports to a high performance team through effective teaching and coaching.
• Expert level interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong team player with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Energetic, self-motivated, and the ability to act with a sense of urgency, intensity, and integrity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen).
